PROJECT: Facade Refurbishment
Client: ATG Entertainment
Location: London
Principal Contractor: Roesewood
Project Value: £960,000
The Apollo Victoria Theatre, home to the acclaimed musical Wicked, was experiencing ongoing issues including damp and water ingress, loose concrete render, and failing masonry, which had been temporarily secured to protect the public. As part of the ATGE Façade Management Programme, several high-priority areas were identified requiring urgent and permanent repair to prevent further deterioration.
The scope of works addressed critical structural and fabric defects, including repairs to listed features such as the decorative bas-relief panels at the main entrance and the asphalt upstands to the canopy. Completion of these major refurbishment works significantly reduced the risk of falling debris, resolved long-standing damp issues, and safeguarded the theatre’s historic fabric while improving public safety.
CN Projects delivered comprehensive, in-depth Health & Safety site audits throughout the façade refurbishment works, providing detailed assessments of site conditions, work at height activities, and contractor compliance. The audits supported effective risk management, ensured alignment with CDM Regulations 2015 and HSE guidance, and helped maintain safe working practices within a live, complex theatre environment.
